Travel Tips

Upon arrival at the San Jose International Airport we recommend that you rent a car since you will be staying outside of town and need transportation. There are many rental car companies located at the airport. Some people like to book their cars online before they arrive, but there are still those folks who wait until they get to the airport, and hope to barter for a better deal. It's up to you, whatever you feel more comfortable with.

For those of you who enjoy your own special blend of coffee, feel free to bring it. Also, if it's a good bottle of wine you enjoy, you are allowed to bring in 3 bottles each. Imported wines are readily available now in the larger grocery stores, and also at our new Costco. During the winter months, the evenings can be cool, so we suggest you bring along a sweatshirt or light jacket and pants.

A small flashlight is always a good item to pack and bring along also. For those of you who have U.S. Cell phone service with AT&T or Verizon, will find that you can use your U.S. cell phones here in Los Cabos.

Directions to La Laguna from Airport

Upon leaving the San Jose International Airport, proceed out to Hwy 1, and head south towards the town of San Jose del Cabo. It is approximately 9.5 kilometers (6 miles) to San Jose from this point. Keep in mind that your rental car speedometer is in kilometers. At about km 10 or so, you'll see on your left, a very large, brand new store, SORIANAS! It just recently opened up, and they have EVERYTHING! This is a great place to stock up on groceries, etc.

Back on the highway, keep heading south. After the next stoplight, get in the left lane. You'll be approaching a very busy intersection, which makes a hard left. There you'll see a Pemex gas station on your left. Just past the Pemex station, on your right, is Zaragoza. This is the one-way down street. Turn right and go all the way down to the bottom where you'll make another right, which will put you in the center of San Jose, where there are many shops and eateries.

Go 3 blocks and take a left onto the new palm lined two way paved road, leading out to the new Puerto Los Cabos Marina, and the East Cape. You'll go straight through the big arroyo, pass a couple of speed bumps, and a little mini market on your left, then right away come to the first roundabout. Go around to your left and follow the signs to "Laguna Hills/Buzzards".

About 1/3 of a mile further, you'll come to the 2nd roundabout, and go left again, following the same signs. This will take you out along the "new" road system that parallels the old beachfront dirt road. From here it's about another 3 miles to the next roundabout, where you will go to your right towards the ocean. From this point, it's only 1.3 miles. As you come to the end of the paved road, stay to your right.

You'll immediately pass Buzzards, a great little bar and grill open Mon-Sat, 8:00am to 8:30pm, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sunday brunch till 2pm. As you pass through the arroyo just beyond Buzzards (about 150 feet), you'll see a guard gate, (if it's closed, simply open and close behind you) turn right there and going through the gate and up the hill. For Salina Vista and Casa Cantera, make the first left. Casa Cantera is a white house, second on your right, and Salina Vista is just next door, the 3rd house on your right.

To get to Casa Dos Hermanas, go through the guard gate and straight back about 1/3 mile, take the 3rd left, then immediately go right, up the hill. You'll see the house there on your right, with the large metal gates. It's the only house on that street, and easily spotted from the road below also.

To find Casa Chameleon take the dirt road past Buzzards and the first guard gate another 200 yards or so to the second gate on the right. Turn through the gate and head up the hill - the house is the first one on the left.

Driving directions to Zacatitos

Follow the directions to the first La Laguna right turn at the last roundabout, go straight instead on the dirt road, signed 'Zacatitos'. This road takes the inland route around the backside of Punta Gorda. Follow it for several miles until you come to the signed right curve to Zacatitos, heading back to the Sea of Cortez. Follow this until it curves around and ends at the 'East Cape Road' at 'Cactus Corner'. Turn right. Drive past the Vantage Realty Palapa and make a left right before the large brown 'Rictor' structure and surf shack. Follow this little dirt road straight until it curves to the left. Then take your first left up a little hill and Jubileo is the third house on the right side. #14
